Spring 2025 update

Updated: May 14

We are so happy it is spring at the farm here in New York. We have been busy raising the seedlings, prepping the gardens and making sure the garlic is safe and sound. The garlic looks great! A little yellow on the tips but with all the cold snaps we have had, it is no surprise. So far it has been a cold and wet spring in the Finger Lakes.

We expect to have our staples of Italy Hill, Marjean, Chesnok and Inchelium as well as a limited amount of Vietnamese, Pehoski Purple and Violet Spring.

French Grey shallots should make a comeback as well as a small amount of Dutch red shallots. Once we harvest, we will have a better idea of what we have to offer online.

Fingers crossed...in the upcoming weeks we will be planting our vegetable garden and locally we will be offering tomatoes, sweet and hot peppers, squash, beans and baby pumpkins.

We were selected by Seed Savers Exchange to participate in some bean and winter squash trials, so we are looking forward to that! They are a non-profit organization that is dedicated to preserving and promoting heirloom seeds and we are super passionate about that.

We also received some beans from Rancho Gordo in California to trial. If you love heirloom beans and haven't heard of them, check them out. The carry a wide variety of shelling beans and they are delicious! I am a proud bean club member there! When available in the spring anyone can participate for a small fee until sold out.

Happy planting!!
